The Coal Creek Scholars Program was established by the Coal Creek Watershed Foundation (CCWF) to give graduates of Briceville Elementary School assistance in seeking a college education. The 2003 Nantglo Scholarship winner Casey Prosise invited us for a visit to her college UT Chattanooga. Several of our Coal Creek Scholars rode to Chattanooga from Coal Creek to get a sampling of what college campus life is like. After Casey woke her roommates up and gave us a tour of their dorm room, she took us on a walking tour throughout the beautiful campus that reflected the first day of Spring in Tennessee. We toured student housing, the library, educational buildings, the book store, and we had lunch in the University Center.
Casey is studying Business Management and was quite the mature and confident tour guide. We are very proud to have her as a Coal Creek Scholar. She is setting a fine example for Briceville students. Trips like these give the students a little exposure to college life so it doesn't seem so intimidating. Thanks, Casey!
Scholars attending were: Michele Lindsay, April Golden, April Byrge, and Alex Bullock
Others attending were: Alex's mom, Lori and his sister Jenna; Barry Thacker and Carol Moore
