TEACHING TENNESSEE TEACHERS
COAL CREEK HISTORY
23 July 2020

For over five years, Barry Thacker has been invited to TEACH TEACHERS the history of Coal Creek. The rich Coal Creek history is a required part of the State of Tennessee School Curriculum.  Today was the very first time we participated and presented by ZOOM. There were approximately 80 participants from across the state. It went great, but there is nothing that compares to being in person in pretty much everything school-related and life-related.  Today's conference included Reconstruction and the African American vote by Bill Carey, Coal Creek Wars with Barry Thacker and Carol Moore, Epidemics in Tennessee History with Bill Carey and Tennessee and the Suffrage Amendment by David Ewing. We always give out Coal Creek Miners’ red bandanas to the participants. We didn’t get to do that today! If you are a teacher or a history buff, please check out Tennessee History for Kids http://www.tnhistoryforkids.org/
