CELEBRATING OUR 21st YEAR!!

WHO:   Volunteers are needed to help mark the Coal Creek Motor Discovery Trail, “spruce up” some of the stops, paint the Briceville Community Church, install signs at the historic cemeteries, remove two trash dumps along Vowell Mountain Road, clean the Briceville People’s Clinic, and remove stumps and debris at Drummond Bridge.

WHAT:     The project is part of efforts to improve the quality of life in the watershed by the Coal Creek Watershed Foundation, Boy Scouts of America, Clinch River Chapter of Trout Unlimited, and the American Society of Civil Engineers.  We will finish scraping and painting the 100+ year old Briceville Community Church and install signs as shown above.  We will clean the People’s Clinic in preparation for putting this facility to use, paint the historic Briceville Community Church, install signs at the historic cemeteries, remove two trash dumps along Vowell Mountain Road, and remove stumps and debris at Drummond Bridge.
WHEN:     Saturday, April 28, from 8:00 am until noon.

WHERE:  Meet at 8:00 am at Briceville Elementary School for assignments.  Briceville is about 4 miles southwest of Lake City off Highway 116.  After you finish your assignment, return to the school where the church ladies will feed us.
WHY:        Coal Creek is a watershed rich in natural beauty and history.  You just need to know where to look.
HOW:       Put on your work boots, bring your chain saw, paintbrush, or post hole diggers, and lend us a hand.  Anderson County agencies involved in the effort include the Sheriff’s Department, Anderson County Executive, FEMA Project Impact, Anderson County Litter Grant Program and the Anderson County Highway Department.   For additional details, call Carol Moore at 865-584-0344 or visit our web site at www.coalcreekaml.com .
