ANNUAL MEETING AT ANDERSON
COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL WITH BRICEVILLE SCHOOL
|

|
Each Fall, we meet with Briceville
School graduates to educate them about how to receive our scholarships.
Today we explained that the Coal Creek Watershed Foundation offers college
scholarship assistance to students who graduated from Briceville School. In
return, scholarship recipients are required to serve as role models
at our annual Scholars Day event at Briceville School.
How can you receive scholarship assistance? Before April 15th of your senior year, submit an essay that tells us why we should invest in your future. What do you plan to study in college? What is your GPA in high school, which is an indication of how well you will do in college? How will you use your college or technical school education to improve the quality of life in Anderson County? What community service work have you done while in high school to show what kind of citizen you will be with a college education? In previous years, we sponsored community service events, but in the future, we will recognize community service work you do for other organizations. We give preference to students who will study something in college or technical school that will qualify them for a job when they graduate. For example, we are more likely to give scholarship assistance to an applicant who will study engineering, nursing, business, accounting, or welding than one wants to study photography, art, or philosophy in college. Why should you want to go to college or technical school? On average, a college or technical school graduate will make $1M more during their career than a person who has only a high school diploma. Also, college or technical school is a great place to meet a potential spouse who shares your goals for advancement in life. http://www.coalcreekaml.com/ScholarsProgramPage.htm |
